-Chapter 3-
    As you and Midnight were cowering under the bed together, she began whimpering. You reached towards her and began petting her head and whispering for her to calm down. Once she calmed down and stopped whimpering you sighed and smiled at her. She licked your face and you smiled but frowned and looked towards the door as you heard footsteps coming from down the hall.
    Midnight dropped her head and pressed into your side, watching you then the door. "It's alright. As long as you stay quiet, he shouldn't be able to find us.....or...It should at least take him awhile...I hope" You whispered to her as the footsteps grew closer. Both of you slid farther under the bed as the footsteps got to your door and stopped. Midnight slid furthest away from the door and you put a hand on her head to calm her and hopefully keep her quiet. After a few seconds the footsteps continued down the hall and you waited until you couldn't hear them anymore before quietly crawling from under the bed and brushing off your pants.
    With a bit of coaxing Midnight came out and you both went to the door, opened it quietly, and peaked out into the hall. After looking both ways and deciding it was safe, you held your knife in front of you as you entered the hallway.You and Midnight went back the way you came and made you way back to the kitchen.
